Acupuncture:

Acupuncture facilitates our meridian system which moves Qi (energy) and blood within the body. Qi is a vital resource that nourishes and animates the body and its systems. From a biomedical perspective Qi is similar to ATP or Oxygenated blood, as it's the life source of our cells. When the body experiences stagnation, pathology will develop. Typically this pathology manifests as illness or disease and presents itself as either pain or diminished organ system function. The misappropriation of Qi and or Blood can generate an array of symptoms, such as digestive imbalances, asthma, and even infertility. Identifying and clearing imbalances in the meridian system intrinsically facilitates the body's innate ability to heal itself.

Cupping

What is Cupping?

Cupping has received quite a bit of press in the last few years. Most notable would be Michael Phelps and the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team. Pictures circulated of the entire team poolside sporting what looked like purple polka dots scattered across their backs. What the U.S Olympic Swimming Team and their staff understand is that Cupping is an incredible tool to improve both peak physical function, as well as, rehabilitation. What that means is that Cupping is beneficial to those in pain (acute crisis), as well as those who are well and wish to improve their health.

How does Cupping work?

An easy way to understand cupping is to think of it as a massage but in reverse. When one has a massage, the masseuse uses physical force (from their hands) to push old blood and fluids from tissues so that new blood and fluids may come to those tissues to replenish, nourish and enliven muscles and organs. The same is true with cupping, but in reverse. Instead of applying downward pressure, cupping lifts the tissues creating space in between the muscles themselves as well as in between different muscles allowing for fresh blood and fluids to heal and nourish muscles and organs, as well as fascia. Also, the vacuous pressure created by the cups forcibly pull more blood to the tissues that are injured so that more significant healing takes place.

All in all, with cupping you get a relaxing, enjoyable and effective way to get out of pain, or remain pain free!

Women's Health

Five thousand years ago Doctors of Oriental Medicine studied, documented, and honored the delicate, exact, and perfect balance of women's cycles. They understood that a woman’s chemistry fluctuates and moves in rhythm with nature’s cycle. Whenever an imbalance was observed, rather then augmenting artificially, they would utilize Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to restore the body's natural balance. They understood that when a disease was observed it was the result of a Qi blockage or misappropriation. For centuries practitioners chose the holistic approach to restore health, as opposed to looking at a particular symptom in isolation. Practitioners of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture utilize the whole-body approach to restore health. This viewpoint considers all systems related and works to heal the whole body, rather than merely addressing physical symptoms. The result is a true restoration of balance in the body, which is lasting and more meaningful in the lives of women.

Prescriptive Herbal Therapy

Doctors of Oriental Medicine are Master Herbalists extensively educated in the application of Eastern Herbal Materia Medica. We begin with a comprehensive health review which is followed by a diagnosis. Prescriptive herbal formulas may then be tailored to the patient's specific pathology. Though patients may present themselves with similar symptoms such as pain, there are a mired of factors contributing to a patient's condition. As a result herbal prescriptions and remedies are entirely unique to the patient. For example, there may be two patients suffering from the same flu, yet their herbal prescription indicators can differ, depending on their individual presentation and underlying constitution. A remarkable hallmark of Oriental Medicine is that we view each patient as a unique individual, and the body as a whole. As such prescriptive herbal formulas are intended to treat both the underlying root constitution of the patient, as well as the branch symptomatic manifestations.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe, cost effective, and nontoxic option to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. The skin’s natural appearance is improved by encouraging vibrant circulation which boosts collagen production. Skin is thereby oxygenated, nourished, and tightened, providing a rejuvenated appearance and a natural healthy glow with no risk of allergic reactions and no recovery period. This is a healthier alternative to the use of toxic chemicals which either paralyze muscles or synthetically fill winkles. Thankfully Oriental Medicine has presented us with the opportunity to utilize an ancient healing art to restore youthful radiant skin.

Neurological Integrative System (NIS)

The Neurological Integration system (NIS) developed by Neurolink is a groundbreaking approach to healthcare management used by practitioners around the globe. NIS bases its treatment methods on the neurophysiology principle that the brain governs optimum function of all body’s systems through its neurological circuitry. It is continually receiving information from every facet of the body, and in turn sends back ‘fine tuning’ messages, many times per second. This means every cell, gland, organ, muscle, tendon, etc. in the body is constantly monitored via these circuits to the brain. Practitioners using NIS evaluate the body’s function from a neurophysiological point of view. This makes the NIS method very accurate in determining the CAUSE of complaints and then resolving them.
